ABOVE Above-Net , a reference in Intelligent Internet Industrial Things (IIOT) solutions , has been recognized as a prominence in the Sanitation Management Innovation category (IGS) of the National Sanitation Quality Award (PNQS) , one of the most prestigious distinctions in the sector , granted by the Brazilian Association of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering (ABES) .
The award -winning project, developed for an important sanitation client, has proved significant operational efficiency , resulting in an economy of over 200,000 kWh in power consumption in just seven months of operation in the city of Miguel Pereira (RJ) .
The challenge
The project was implemented in the capture of raw water and repression of treated water from ETA Fragoso, in Miguel Pereira (RJ), with the objective of optimizing the process involving three critical points: the capture in the riverbed, the reservoir of the station Water treatment (ETA) and an intermediate passage box. The main challenge was in the integration of these three systems, which traditionally operated independently.
“Many companies face challenges when it comes to local automation. Within the same season, it is common for the automation process to work well, with bombs, levels and other equipment regulating each other within the same physical space. However, the situation is complicated by involving different locations. Many companies have difficulty making the PLC - considered the heart of automation - of a unit connecting and adjusting based on machines or equipment of another location. This visibility and intelligence associated with integration provides an unprecedented economy for the operation. ” , explains Rafael Pougy, Project Manager at Above-Net .
The solution
Above-Net has implemented an innovative solution using Bridgemeter, installing digital and analog meats, along with sensors at two strategic points. The system allowed the intelligent integration of automation, allowing the programmable logical controllers (PLCs) of each locality to communicate with each other even being physically distant.
The system allows:
- Integrated automatic adjustment of pump rotation according to reservoir levels
- Optimization of operation during reduced tariff periods
- Integrated control to avoid waste of treated water
- Real -time remote monitoring
- Automation Remote Programming and Adjustments
The project was efficiently implemented, reusing analog sensors inherited from the former dealership and establishing a service in the SaaS (software as a service) model with a recurring monthly cost by monitoring and data supervision.
Expressive results
Project results demonstrate an exceptional return on investment (ROI) of 1916% in the first seven months of operation, with:
- 201,786 kWh reduction in energy consumption in seven months (9% economy)
- Financial Economy of R $ 270,213.00 (18% of cost reduction)
- Agile implementation with return on immediate investment
- Economy projection greater than R $ 1,200,000.00 in the next five years
It is noteworthy that the recorded economy considers only the reduction in energy consumption, not accounting for the additional gains obtained with the reduction in treated water losses and the optimization of equipment maintenance.
“This case demonstrates Bridgemeter's transformative potential in the sanitation sector. Through intelligent systems integration and advanced automation, we are not only able to significantly reduce energy consumption, but also optimize the entire operation, generating substantial benefits for our client , ”says Marcelo Ramos, CEO of Above-Net .
Sector context
The project gains even more relevance considering the current context of the sanitation sector. With the goals of universalization of services by 2033, established by the legal framework of sanitation, the demand for energy in the sector tends to grow significantly. According to data from the Sanitation Private Segment Information System (Spris), energy costs can represent up to 30% of the operating costs of sanitation companies.
Agile and sustainable implementation
An important differential of the project was its rapid and efficient implementation. In just 15 days, the Above-Net installed the level meters, system configuration and operational tests, allowing the results to be quickly achieved. The project has shown that it is possible to achieve significant improvements in operational efficiency with a modest initial investment, generating significant return on a very short term.
The initial cost was fully absorbed by the financial model, and optimizations for the use of sensors and system automation occurred without impact on the project Opex.
Transform the operational efficiency of your sanitation system
Above-Net 's award-winning results in the sanitation sector demonstrate the transformative power of the Internet of Industrial Things (IIOT) when applied intelligently. A 200,000 kWh reduction in power consumption in just seven months is just an example of the impact we can generate on its operation.
