As IIOT can improve the efficiency and safety of effluent treatment stations

Effluent treatment is an essential activity for the preservation of the environment and public health. However, these systems are complex and require careful operation to ensure the quality of treated water.

The Internet of Industrial Things - IIOT can be an effective solution for improving the efficiency and safety of effluent treatment stations (ETES). It allows the monitoring of key process parameters in real time, which enables the identification and correction of problems quickly and accurately.

A work developed and presented during the 31st National Congress of Sanitation and Environment by Above-Net in partnership with Hydrosolution, evaluated the impact of industrial IoT monitoring on the productivity of a mobile effluent treatment station. The study results showed that intelligent monitoring can be an effective tool for improving ETES productivity.

In the study, an effluent treatment plant with bio -ride membrane technology was connected to the controller and equipped with some sensors. The results showed that monitoring technology helped reduce unexpected stops by 27%, increased productivity by 30% and increased membrane life by increasing operation within 95% of the time.

Methodology

For the study, membrane vacuum sensors were installed, repression pump and retro washing current sensors and a digital hydrometer for negative pressure measurement (TMP), pump chains and effluent production flow - respectively.

The monitoring system uses alarms with cross conditions to interpolate information from various non -existing sensors. For example, the membrane level of inlabbols is estimated from the pump current and the transmembrane pressure. The maximum allowed pressure is also monitored.

An intuitive control panel allows real -time visualization of all parameters, including effluent production and process trends. This enables thin adjustment of parameters to improve system performance.

Conclusion

Industrial IoT monitoring allowed the crossing of information from different sensors for immediate identification of problems in the OTE operation. This has enabled anticipation of problems and adjustments in a short time, which contributed to the increased productivity and life of the treatment plant.

The system also allows real -time visualization of all operational parameters, which enables the identification and correction of problems quickly and efficiently.

In addition, industrial IoT monitoring can be used to forecast station failures. Data trends analysis collected by monitoring may allow the identification of patterns that may indicate future failures.
