Above-Net has accepted the challenge of modernizing the remote monitoring of water treatment and distribution stations from a large state sanitation company in Brazil, which sought solutions that could simplify the former industrial park communication system.
With an outdated system, where the communication of equipment with the CLPs (programmable logic controller) was done through cables connected to the main stations, there were many problems such as falling data transmission and a great complexity for maintenance and expansion of this network.
Above-Net presented the Bridgemeter solution, consisting of a parameterizable telemetry system and IoT (Internet of Things) devices capable of connecting with sensors, equipment or controller, allowing the monitoring, collecting and programming of intelligent rules for prediction of Problems and data analysis of remote locations.
With Bridgemeter , all the communication between the equipment previously made through cables, it was carried out through the 3G/4G network in real time. With the solution, managers can create alarms that trigger notifications on dashboards, email or app. In some situations it is possible to program the remote drive for opening or closing valves.
The solution monitors the flow and water level in the capture sites, lack of phase and electric current of the pumps, pump status and controls the closure and opening of valves.
The Bridgemeter intelligently and automatically interprets the non -standard conditions of the operation, notifying the groups of responsible according to the preset. This allows the anticipation of important maintenance without stopping operations. The operational advantages of Bridgemeter allow the reach of over 95% of SLA (Service Level Agreement, or “Service Level Agreement - ANS”).
In the sanitation industries, where there is a supervisory system of the operation like SCADA, Bridgemeter still connects to the system transparently to remote points by managing remote connection to legacy systems and actively generating alarms to the field team, transmitting Information from real -time equipment and sensors to the platform, and enabling the expansion of measurements without the need to acquire new PLCs.
Data Convergence
With the privatization of this public sanitation company, the distribution of drinking water was divided between three private companies, maintaining water capture and sewage treatment operations with the public operator.
However, all operations data from the 4 companies should be transmitted to the same control center. The challenge was to make different technologies could read the data and share it to the science of each of the companies.
Above-Net has developed and made available an architecture that makes Bridgemeter a reading bus, surpassing the limitation of the PLC that only allows the connection of a single supervisory for data access.
“Instead of taking two systems for reading at the end of the PLC, a layer was created where Above-Net reads the data and through Bridgemeter, multiple readings by supervisory systems of each of the dealers are allowed. This eliminates PLC limitation that only allows one reading, ”commented Rafael Pougy, Project Manager at Above-Net.
The Bridgemeter solution can be hired in the SaaS model (monthly payment), thus reducing expenses on capital, or Capex.
