Initial scenario:

In this case, the client, one of Brazil's largest sanitation companies, faced several challenges implementing an efficient and reliable communication, telemetry, and IIoT solution across more than 100 pumping stations and reservoirs throughout its operations. Among the main challenges were:

      

  • Securely transmit field information to Operational Control Centers (CCOs).
  • Add intelligence and predictive analysis to collected data
  • Integrate the various PLC communication protocols in the field
  • Meet the diverse network topologies spread throughout the operation
  • Manage cellular communication to ensure transparent communication between CCOs and remote locations.

Above-Net Solution

Bridge Manager is a cellular communication management solution between the CCO and remote devices. It acts as a secure and stable bridge through which the CCO can access the PLC at the endpoint transparently, independent of Dynamic IP and other cellular network specificities, and ensures data security. Above-Net installed high-performance industrial cellular routers at each point, sized and configured to meet the various network scenarios and protocols used in the operation. This equipment, combined with Bridge Manager, ensured communication with remote points, with an SLA exceeding 95%, across the more than 100 points the client wanted to monitor.

       

Above-Net – beyond the basics 

In addition to the Bridge Manager solution, we also provide the client with Bridge Meter . This is Above-Net Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and predictive analytics . Bridge Meter adds intelligence and data analysis to Bridge Manager. Through a direct connection to the PLC, or via our own hardware, we can receive data from sensors, machines, or motors in the field, analyze this data based on the client's configurations and needs, and deliver a monitoring dashboard, intelligent alarm notifications, and motor failure predictability with precision to the nearest day.

      

Expanding monitoring

In addition to enabling transparent and secure communication between the CCO and PLCs in the field and adding intelligence and predictive analysis to the collected data, Bridge Meter also enabled the customer to expand monitoring as needed.

For example, filtration grids within WWTPs can be monitored. Bridge Meter can remotely access grid operation, motor parameters, number of drives, and any other relevant information.

Human error in the operation of these machines can lead to significant losses. Bridge Meter minimizes the need for on-site supervision and prevents human error in the process, ensuring optimal operational performance.
